Tradewinds Capital Management is an organization of professionals. In addition to college degrees, many of our advisors have attained specific financial designations indicating to the general public that we are true professionals. The following is a list and description of designations obtained by our advisors.

  • Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) – For professional financial planners, the CFP® mark is the highest level of qualification in the financial services industry. In addition to having a university degree and multiple years of financial industry experience and a CFP® designation the holder must demonstrate proficiency by passing an academic course in the following areas: Investments, Financial Planning, Estate Planning, Insurance Planning, Retirement Planning and Taxation. A CFP® designation holder then is required to pass a comprehensive rigorous 2 day examination proctored by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.
  • Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) – In the insurance industry the CLU® designation is the most respected designation of insurance expertise. In addition to the course work required for a CFP® designation, a CLU® designate must demonstrate proficiency by passing additional academic courses in three or more of the following areas: Individual Life Insurance, Life Insurance Law, Planning for Small Business Owners & Professionals, Individual Health Insurance, Group Benefits and Estate Planning Applications.
  • Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) – For those financial professions seeking to provide a fiduciary environment for their clients, the AIF® designation provides specific training for adherence to the legal and best practices framework of a prudent fiduciary standard.
  • Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) – For those professionals who meet special standards of education, experience, knowledge, professional reputation and character in estate planning.
  • Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) – For professionals who have demonstrated proficiency by passing an academic course in the following areas: Financial Planning, Estate Planning, Insurance Planning, Retirement Planning, Taxation Employee Benefits Planning and Asset Protection Planning.
  • Chartered Advisor for Senior Living® (CASL®) –  For financial professionals  who have demonstrated a commitment to helping clients who are middle-aged and older achieve and preserve financial security through wealth management, wealth preservation, and wealth transfer planning.

Each of these designations requires attestation to each designation’s Code of Ethics and completion of various qualifying continuing professional education.
