The Code of Hammurabi, circa 1750 BC, was the first to document a practice by the Babylonians to insure cargo crossing the Mediterranean from the risks of loss and theft. Insurance still plays an important and crucial role in the risk management of both corporations and individuals in today’s society.

Before anyone purchases insurance, a risk management analysis process needs to be undertaken to properly identify the necessary need for insurance. Once these risks are identified we can move on to the next step which is to work to eliminate or minimize these risks through actionable changes and/or to transfer this risk through insurance.

Once we have identified a risk needing to be insured we undergo a process of determining how much of that risk we want to insure, for how long and for what cost.
